Most farms have a Chainsaw, commonly used for such tasks as cutting firewood, cutting fallen branches, fencing, hedge laying etc.
Chainsaws are very dangerous pieces of equipment if poorly maintained or used inappropriately and without training. Risks need to be assessed, protective equipment provided and communication arrangements in place.
All workers who use a chainsaw should be competent to do so. Before using a chainsaw a worker should have received appropriate training and obtained a relevant certificate of competence or national competence award.
