Telehandlers are common place on many farms and are often the most used piece of machinery due to their versatility. However, many hazards are associated with their use, including;

  • Overturning – on uneven ground, on slopes, from driving inappropriately
  • Unsafe procedures – using grain buckets to push in fencing stakes
  • Loads falling from height – bales, rubble, logs
  • Electrocution - from contact with Overhead Powerlines
  • Attachments – not appropriate for the telehandler or not attached securely and becoming detached

“Telehandlers and teleloaders should only be driven by authorised, trained and competent people who have completed appropriate training and testing”
