Your questions, answered

Want to improve yields and reduce risks
on your farm, but have some questions?
See our FAQs.

What are some common farming injuries that first aid training helps with?

Some common farming injuries include cuts and lacerations (from tools or machinery), fractures, burns & scalds (from equipment or chemicals), eye injuries, as well as medical emergencies like severe bleeding, shock, choking. First aid training equips people to manage those until professional help arrives.

What should be in a farm first aid kit?

A good farm first aid kit should include items for treating cuts and bleeding (plasters, dressings, bandages), burn treatments, eyewash, gloves, antiseptic, tools for choking/CPR (mask etc.), as well as materials to manage fractures or more serious injuries. Also, instructions, risk assessments and guidance on location of kit(s).

What types of first aid training courses does 4R offer for farms?

4R offers courses such as Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day), First Aid at Work (3 days), additional modules or add-ons such as Forestry First Aid, and possibly other modules like immediate management of anaphylaxis.

Why is first aid training especially important in agriculture?

Farms are high-risk environments: heavy machinery, animals, manual handling, chemicals. Immediate appropriate response to injury can prevent complications, reduce severity, save lives. Also helps with legal obligations under health & safety regulations.

Can first aid training be done on-site on my farm?

Yes, 4R offers flexible group locations, and training can take place at your site, which makes it more convenient and relevant.

Who delivers the first aid training and is it accredited?

Courses are delivered by qualified, experienced trainers. They are accredited First Aid Training- for example, FAA Level 3 Awards, Emergency First Aid at Work etc.
